MOU between Center for Global Climate and Marine Governance of Korea and Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources of Hawassa University of Ethiopia


Professor Suh-Yong Chung, Director of the Center for Global Climate and Marine Governance of Korea University (CGCMG) and Dr. Girrma Mengesha, Dean of the Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources of Hawassa University (WGCF-NR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the KOICA funded project on “Enhancing the Capacity to Address Climate Change Focusing on Forestry Sector in Ethiopia” in April, 2018. CGCMG of Korea University is the focal implementation organization of the KOICA Project from February 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020. Hawassa University is the partner implementing institution of CGCMG KOICA project in Ethiopia and the main beneficiary of the KOICA project at the same time. Hawassa University was was founded in 1978 to foster forest specialists, and was recommended by the Ministry of Environment as the most prestigious and specialized university in the field of climate change in Ethiopia. Through the benefits of education, Hawassa University is anticipated to more cooperate with public institutions to cope with the climate change of Ethiopia, effectively.
