The Organisation

Solutions for Our Climate (SFOC) is an independent policy research and advocacy organisation that aims to make emissions trajectories across Asia compatible with the Paris Agreement of 1.5°C warming target. SFOC is led by legal, economic, financial, and environmental experts with experience in energy and climate policy.

Since its founding in 2016, SFOC has driven strategic campaigns on coal power phase-out, renewables, and climate finance. Alongside its growing program work, the organisation has established solid cross-cutting teams, from communications to diplomacy, working across the programme areas to deliver SFOC’s messages both domestically and internationally. SFOC has grown its diplomacy programme considerably with key networks established domestically, internationally, and now regionally. The Asia Pacific region is one of the most vulnerable regions to the impacts of climate change and the over-reliance on and financing of fossil gas is a focus for kickstarting SFOC’s regional work.

The Role
  
The Regional Coordinator supervises SFOC’s Asia regional work and will establish an open platform for strategic coordination. Your primary objective is to enhance and expand the effectiveness of Asia gas campaigns by increasing network and partner involvement and accelerating cross border collaborations for strategic interventions against fossil fuel-dependent industries and governments. You will additionally:
  • Continue to refine the strategy for regional LNG work and monitor progress
  • Collaborate with programme teams to design effective campaign strategies
  • Convene regular online sessions fostering information sharing, learning and strategy
  • Plan and host seminars/events/workshops to coincide with international gatherings
  • Collaborate with regional NGOs and conduct outreach on joint activities
  • Coordinate diplomatic, communications, and policy advocacy support for national actors
  • Analyse climate strategies in the region and extract common themes
  • Actively seek narrative and communications opportunities, engage with funders
Skills Required
  
You will be an excellent strategist with experience leading and building a talented team, and a demonstrated passion to address climate change. You have a solid grasp of the political landscape and campaign scene within Asia and can further offer the following:
  • Experience in organising and leading successful advocacy campaigns
  • Deep interest in climate/energy transition and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and networking/outreach abilities
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management experience
  • Exposure to non-profit/philanthropic work and funder relations
  • Independent and collaborative work style, able to work resiliently through ambiguity
  • Ability to work from Seoul office 20-25% of year if not Korea-based
  • Fluent English essential, proficiency in Korean preferred, an Asian language is a plus
