Global Korean Studies (GKS) Interdisciplinary Major explores various aspects of Korea—including its culture, history, politics, society, and economy—within the broader context of global historical dynamics. This program is committed to preparing students to take active and confident roles on the international stage. Going beyond the boundaries of traditional academic disciplines, GKS fosters a comprehensive understanding of Korean values while enhancing students’ integrative creativity and leadership through intercultural awareness and communication skills.
GKS offers a well-structured international studies program specifically designed to help international students at Korea University successfully adapt to university culture in Korea and engage in academic activities. Alongside dedicated GKS courses on Korean history, thoughts, culture, society, and business management, the program is designed in close collaboration with other departments, including Korean Language & Literature, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Media & Communication, Economics, and Business Administration. This interdisciplinary environment enables students to explore a wide range of courses and earn academic credits across various disciplines.
