Notice for application for Leave of Absence /

Return from Absence(Reinstatement) for Spring 2023


All international students can apply for leave of absence or return from absence(reinstatement) via KU Portal(KUPID) from January 3, 2023 AM 10:00

(Only international students are applicable.)


1. Who : GSIS International Students


2. How to Apply : KUPID(http://portal.korea.ac.kr) → Registration/Graduation → University Registration → Application for Leave of Absence/Return


3. Application Period

  1) January 3, 2023 10:00 ~ January 31, 2023 16:00

   * Only Int'l Students are available to apply during the period 1).

This period is open early for international students who need a Certificate of Admission(CoA) in order to apply for and get a student visa(D-2).


  2)  February 1, 2023 10:00 ~ February 24, 2023 16:00 

     (Official Period for Academic Status Change)

   * Both Korean and Int'l Students are available to apply during the period 2).


4. Required Documents for Return from Absence(Reinstatement)

   : When you apply for Return from Absence(Reinstatement) on KUPID,

     please upload both documents below.

     ① a copy of (new) passport (if applicable, a copy of ARC together) 

     ② a copy of bank balance statement


The Bank Statement(Proof of Bank Balance: Tuition + Living Costs) must

 (1) Indicate it has a minimum balance of US$ 20,000 (2~4 semesters left), US$ 10,000 (1 semester left) in one account.

 (2) Be a scanned copy(clear photocopy) of official document in English with the stamp [signature] from the bank.

 (3) The account holder MUST be YOU or your parents.
      In the submission of parents', please upload the certificate of family relations (or birth certificate) 
with the bank statement (compound them into ONE PDF file).

 (4) Be issued within 30 days as of the application submitting date
