DIS Concentration

Division of International Studies Concentration Introduction

The ‘Concentration’ system was introduced in 2023 for the Division of International Studies to strengthen both basic competency and specialized, in-depth education. Students who enrolled in 2023 onward must complete at least one DIS Concentration  to meet graduation requirements. For students who enrolled before 2023, the certificate of the concentration will be offered only to those who applied for it before graduation.

Application Eligibility

  • Students in the Division of International Studies as their primary major (제1전공), double majors(이중전공), dual-degree majors(복수전공) and intensive majors(심화전공)

Application Procedures

  • Application is only possible during the application periods
  • 1st semester: in July, 2nd semester: in January(Please check the notice on the CIS website.)

Notice

  • The concentration certificate cannot be issued if the student does not apply for it.
  • Application is only possible during the application period.
  • A student cannot postpone graduation to complete the concentration if all other graduation requirements have been met.

International Commerce
IC concentration overview:
The International Trade concentration aims to train international trade experts by providing an innovative and specialized curriculum to explore topics such as international trade and finance, international management and investment, and economic development through international economic cooperation.
The curriculum of the IC concentration is structured to foster learning at increasingly rigorous levels. At the basic education level, students will learn the basics of international trade and finance, international management, international economic cooperation, and data analysis. It then offers intermediate-level courses covering a range of topics, including international trade theory, international financial markets, international management, international cooperation, international economic security, digital trade, and trade and industrial policy for economic development. In addition, we provide an advanced curriculum that reflects the latest issues, theories, and methodologies in international commerce. These advanced courses apply theories and methods in international commerce to regional studies such as East Asia, Europe, North America, and Korea.

International Politics
IP concentration overview:
The IP concentration provides rigorous policy-related courses in Global Politics. The course topics in the IP track include foreign policy; international conflict and negotiation; war, peace, and international security; terrorism; international cooperation and economic security; human rights, ethics, and humanitarianism; climate change, and environmental issues, among others. IP concentration’s broad scope requires an interdisciplinary approach, drawing upon the fields of political science, economics, history, sociology, data science, law, foreign languages, and others.

International Development & Cooperation
IDC concentration overview:
The International Development Cooperation(IDC) concentration offers a variety of courses related to development cooperation. The introductory level curriculum introduces major fields of international development & cooperation through courses based on the basic knowledge of international studies in general, such as international trade, international relations, and social science analysis methodology.
After completing the introductory stage, students learn about international development issues such as poverty and inequality, human capital and education, gender, human rights and sustainable development, climate, environment, international law, water, and resources. At the advanced level, students will take a comprehensive approach to learn the various aspects of the roles of individuals, countries, international organizations, and relief agencies and their impact on these international development issues. Students are educated with an aim to cultivate professional knowledge and comprehensive perspectives.
