Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) under the auspices of UNESCO is a UNESCO Category 2 Centre working for UNESCO Member States to promote Education for International Understanding (EIU) and Global Citizenship Education (GCED) towards a Culture of Peace. The Centre was established in 2000 following the Agreement between UNESCO and the Government of the Republic of Korea.

 

APCEIU is recruiting staff to contribute to the global and regional programmes in the area of Global Citizenship Education as follows:

 

1. Position Available

 ○ Two positions in GCED Capacity-Building Programme

 ※ GCED Capacity-Building Programme aims for global education cooperation in close collaboration with UNESCO Member States to achieve SDGs and promote GCED, and includes projects such as Capacity-Building Workshop on GCED for Teacher Educators, Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED, and operation of GCED online courses, etc.

 

2. Qualifications

 ○ Bachelor’s Degree or above (including the applicants who are expected to graduate in August 2022)

 ○ Strong interest in programmes on EIU/GCED and the capacity to undertake related programmes

 ○ Fluency in English

 ○ Open to all nationalities

 ○ Should not be subject to any of the grounds for disqualification under Article 33 of the State Public Officials Act of the Republic of Korea, and not be disqualified from overseas travel

 ○ Completed or exempted from military service (Korean males only)

 ○ Should be under 60 years old as of the day of employment (Pursuant to Personnel Regulations of APCEIU)

 

3. Conditions of Employment

 ○ Employment Type : Project-based contract

 ○ Period of contract : 24 June 2022 – 31 December 2022

                              (Extendable if the programme requires)

 ○ Working Hour : 09:00-18:00, Five days a week (Mon-Fri)

 ○ Compensations and benefits : In accordance with the APCEIU’s Salary Regulations

 ○ Location : APCEIU Office (Guro-gu, Seoul)

 

4. Selection Process

 ○ Application Review

  ※ The number of applicants selected for the written exam will be 30 times as many as the number of the position available. Kindly note that the applicants with assessment scores under the minimum passing score will not be considered for further screening.

  ※ When the number of applicants to be selected for the next assessment is over the limit because of tied scores, all the tied applicants will be selected.

 ○ Written Exam: Essay Test (in English), Korean-English Translation

  ※ The number of applicants selected for the interview will be 10 times as many as the number of the position available. Kindly note that the applicants with assessment scores under the minimum passing score will not be considered for further screening.

  ※ When the number of applicants to be selected for the next assessment is over the limit because of tied scores, all the tied applicants will be selected.

 ○ Interview Candidates

   - A copy of certificate of graduation or expected graduation

     ※ If you have a graduate degree, please submit copies of both Bachelor’s degree and graduate degree(s).

   - A copy of career/employment certificate (If applicable)

   - A copy of an abstract of certificate of resident register (Only for Koreans / Male applicants should list information on military service)

  ※ Those who passed the written exam will be required to submit the documents above on the date of the interview.

  ※ Please review expiration dates of each certificate before submission.

 

 ○ Successful Candidates

   - Certificate of graduation or expected graduation

     ※ Those who submitted a certificate of expected graduation will be asked to submit their degree certificate in the future.

   - Degree Certificate (Master’s degree and above)

   - Transcript of Academic Record

     ※ If you have a graduate degree, please submit academic records for both Bachelor’s degree and graduate degree(s).

   - Basic certificate (Only for Koreans)

   - An abstract of certificate of resident register (Only for Koreans / Male applicants should list information on military service)

   - Career Certificate (If applicable)

   - Certificates on the information on language proficiency, awards, licenses, etc. listed on your application (If applicable)

   - Pre-employment physical examination report

   - Other documents required for employment

   ※ Successful candidates should submit original copies of each document. You may submit certified true copies if you can not submit original copies due to unforeseen circumstances.

   ※ If an applicant forges and fabricates any documents, lists false information and does not submit the required documents, his/her job offer or appointment may be withdrawn.

8. Additional Information

 ○ Applicants may not be employed if there is no suitable qualified applicant.

 ○ APCEIU may withdraw a job offer or appointment of the candidates selected with false information and/or in an unfair manner.

 ○ APCEIU may withdraw a job offer or appointment of the candidates if any grounds for disqualification are found.

 ○ If there has been an error in filling out the application form, the applicant may be subject to unfavourable measures. An appointment may be withdrawn when an applicant lists false qualifications on his/her application or does not submit required documents. The applicant also may be limited from applying APCEIU and punishable with laws related.

 ○ APCEIU may withdraw a job offer or appointment depending on the results of pre-employment physical examination.

 ○ Applicants may be wait-listed in case for situations where successful candidates turn down the offer of employment or leave and where a job offer or appointment are withdrawn.

 ○ If any changes are made in the selection schedule, an announcement regarding the change will be posted on the APCEIU website(www.unescoapceiu.org).

 ○ Candidates who did not receive a final job offer may fill out 【Request for the Return of Documents for Employment Form】 to retrieve the documents that have been submitted and send the form to the email address(recruitment@unescoapceiu.org) within 14 days from the date of the final announcement of successful candidates. However, the documents submitted through an email or voluntarily submitted will not be returned. When there is no request for return after 14 days from the date of final announcement, the submitted documents will be shredded in accordance with Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea.
