Position Summary

This position will coordinate the Korbel Office of Career & Professional Development (OCPD) events, primarily employer events as well as employer outreach activities and employer engagement reporting. This is an external-facing position, but coordinates closely with Korbel and DU colleagues to represent the needs of Korbel graduate alumni. This position will demonstrate advocacy of inclusive excellence values in employer relationship management. The position reports to the Associate Director of the Korbel Office of Career & Professional Development.

This is a part-time, non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

Event Coordination

  - Assist the Associate Director with identifying and contacting alumni and recruiters working at target organizations and/or within specific fields.
  - Extend invitations to alumni and recruiters to participate in events such as Career Connections, Career Conversations, Panel Presentations, Networking Receptions, etc.
  - Carry-out logistical tasks such as posting event information, collecting registrations, ordering food, ordering presenter gifts, nametags, etc. to ensure events are well publicized, well attended, and run smoothly.
  - Assist with OCPD events.

Employer Relationship-Building

  - Collaborate with OCPD career advising and internship program colleagues and with faculty and Korbel research Centers to identify and reach out to target employers
  - Research employers in target regional and industry-specific markets.  Identify and contact DU/Korbel alumni for information and to develop relationships, scheduling informational meetings (including the OCPD Associate Director when appropriate). 
  - Represent internship program when speaking to employers about recruiting.
  - Develop and present marketing collateral to employers showcasing our degree programs, career services and students (update and produce print and Web versions regularly).
  - Monitor & Analyze employment market trends (regional and industry-specific)
  - Conduct research on the employment markets for new or growing programs (currently Public Policy and Global Sustainability).

Reporting 

  - Record employer engagement activities in Career Management System (PCO).
  - Collect, analyze and report out on post-event evaluations.
  - Assist in collecting and compiling post-graduation employment data for internal and external reporting.

Administrative

  - Attend staff meetings.
  - Represent the OCPD Employer Relations operation at meetings with Alumni Relations, Employer relations and other Korbel/DU colleagues as needed.
  - Post internships and jobs on PCO as needed.
  - Backstop internship program management as needed. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  - Understanding of international affairs and public policy job market and Korbel graduate degree programs.
  - Strong service orientation, excellent interpersonal and advising skills, and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations.
  - Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  - Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate professionally with a wide range of students, faculty, staff and employers.
  - Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  - Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organizational skills.
  - Cultural competency and the ability to understand and appreciate cultural differences that affect student experience and to communicate effectively across cultures.
  - Desire to define problems, establish facts, and provide solutions.
  - Capacity to balance multiple and varied tasks, meet deadlines, and use well-developed time management and organizational skills.
  - High proficiency with MS Office, especially Word, Excel and PPT.
  - Previous experience within APSIA preferred.

Required Qualifications

  - Bachelor’s degree.
  - 1-2 years experience in outreach or partnership development, or sales.
  - 1-2 years event planning experience.
  - Demonstrated experience managing a program or project.

Preferred Qualifications

  - Bachelor's degree in International Affairs or Public Policy.
  - International Affairs industry experience.
  - Experience working in a higher education institution.
  - Career services experience.
  - Graphic design/data visualization experience.
  - Experience with PCO or other career management system.

Hourly Range

The hourly range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
