Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) under the auspices of UNESCO is a UNESCO Category 2 Centre working for UNESCO Member States to promote Education for International Understanding (EIU) and Global Citizenship Education (GCED) towards a Culture of Peace. The Centre was established in 2000 following the Agreement between UNESCO and the Government of the Republic of Korea.


APCEIU is recruiting staff to contribute to the global and regional programmes in the area of Global Citizenship Education as follows:


1. Position Available

 One position in EIU/GCED Programme 


2. Responsibilities

 Implement and monitor the ‘Global and Regional GCED Network’ Programme

 Support the overall activities of external relations’ duties at APCEIU 

 Perform additional tasks as required and assigned by the Office


3. Required Qualifications

 Education

- Master’s Degree or above

 Nationality 

- Non-Korean nationals from the UNESCO Member States in the Asia-Pacific region 

 Work Experience 

- Relevant experiences or interest in the field of EIU/GCED

 Skills and Competencies

- Strong organizational and coordination skills

- Analytical and problem solving skills

- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and in a multicultural environment.

- Good IT skills including knowledge of office software.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

 Languages

- Excellent knowledge in English, both verbally and in writing, and working-level knowledge in Korean


4. Conditions of Employment 

 Employment Type: Regular, full-time position

 Working Hour: 09:00-18:00, Five days a week (Mon-Fri)

 Compensations and benefits: In accordance with the APCEIUs Salary Regulations 

※ The approximate annual starting salary for this post is KRW 39,000,000. (The amount may increase depending on the selected candidate’s educational background and work experience.)

 Location: APCEIU Office (Guro-gu, Seoul) 


5. Expected Employment Start Date

○ 19 June 2023 (subject to change, depending on visa issuance process)

 1-year apprenticeship period

 Written Exam: English Essay Test, Korean- English/English-Korean Translation

10. Additional Information

 Applicants may not be employed if there is no suitable qualified applicant. 

 APCEIU may withdraw a job offer or appointment of the candidates selected with false information and/or in an unfair manner. 

 APCEIU may withdraw a job offer or appointment of the candidates if any grounds for disqualification are found.

 If there has been an error in filling out the application form, the applicant may be subject to unfavorable measures. An appointment may be withdrawn when an applicant lists false qualifications on his/her application or does not submit required documents. The applicant also may be limited from applying APCEIU and punishable with laws related. 

 APCEIU may withdraw a job offer or appointment depending on the results of pre-employment physical examination.

 Applicants may be wait-listed in case for situations where successful candidates turn down the offer of employment or leave and where a job offer or appointment are withdrawn.

 If any changes are made in the selection schedule, an announcement regarding the change will be posted on the APCEIU website (www.unescoapceiu.org). 

 Candidates who did not receive a final job offer may fill out Request for the Return of Documents for Employment Form to retrieve the documents that have been submitted and send the form to the email address (recruitment@unescoapceiu.org) within 14 days from the date of the final announcement of successful candidates. However, the documents submitted through an email or voluntarily submitted will not be returned. When there is no request for return after 14 days from the date of final announcement, the submitted documents will be shredded in accordance with Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea.
