Notice on Examination of Degree Dissertations for Fall 2026
** All submissions, payments, and applications must be completed within the designated period. No late submissions will be accepted under any circumstances.
<Application for Examination of Degree Dissertations>
1. Application for Examination of Degree Dissertations
1) Application Period: October 19 (Mon) – October 23 (Fri), 2026, 16:00
2) Application Method: Both online and offline applications must be completed
2. Evaluation Fee Payment
1) Payment Period: October 19 (Mon) – October 23 (Fri), 2026, 16:00
2) Amount
- Master’s: KRW 100,000 (current students), KRW 140,000 (completed students)
- Doctoral: KRW 400,000 (current students), KRW 450,000 (completed students)
- Designated Bank Account: KEB HANA BANK 391-904468-08737 KOREA UNIVERSITY
* When paying the evaluation fee, enter the depositor name as your full student ID number followed by your name.
3. Thesis/Dissertation Draft Submission
1) Submission Period: October 20 (Tue) – November 4 (Wed), 2026
2) Submission Method:
- Master’s: Submit three copies of the thesis draft
- Doctoral: Submit five copies of the dissertation draft
→ Must be submitted in person to the Evaluation Committee (Do not submit to the GSIS Administration Office)
- The deadline for submitting the draft may be adjusted in consultation with your academic advisor; however, it must allow sufficient time to participate in the defense without any disruption.
4. Degree Dissertation Tuition Payment
1) Bill Printing and Payment Period: November 4 (Wed) – November 6 (Fri), 2026, 16:00
2) Amount: 12% of tuition
- 5% for students who have already paid the completed research registration fee
3) The tuition is not required for currently enrolled students, and only completed students must pay

<Thesis/Dissertation Defense>
1. Defense Period: November 26 (Thu) – November 27 (Fri), 2026
2. Defense Method: Either online or offline
3. Detailed Defense Schedule: To be posted on the GSIS website on November 19 (Thu), 2026 (Tentative)
4. Notes
- Students must consult with their thesis advisor in advance regarding the defense schedule and format
- Doctoral students are required to conduct the defense twice

2. Online Upload of Examination Result Documents
1) Upload Period: January 4 (Mon) – January 13 (Wed), 2027, 16:30
2) Required Documents to Upload
- Electronic file of the thesis/dissertation
- Copyright Agreement
- Signature Page
3. Submission of Examination Result Documents
1) Submission Period: January 4 (Mon) – January 15 (Fri), 2027, 16:00
2) Place of Submission: KU GSIS Administration Office (Room 223, International Studies Hall) (in-person submission only)
3) Required Documents to Submit
- Thesis/Dissertation Submission Confirmation
- Confirmation of Thesis Plagiarism Check (see file attached) + Turnitin Digital Receipt
- Title Page of the Thesis/Dissertation
- Copy of signature page
- (PhD only) Proof of Journal Article Publication (in an academic journal indexed in KCI, SCI, SCIE, SSCI, AHCI, or SCOPUS) - Only for Ph.D students who were unable to submit it at the time of the dissertation examination application. Failure to submit it will result in the cancellation of the thesis/dissertation examination pass.
